Mathew,

Last night I noticed calm, a peace and a warm breeze in the night. Not sure why I noticed it, but I did… When I heard the news today (Saturday) about your journey to our heavenly father; it made all the sense in the world, that I could not understand at the time. You see Mathew, I write this letter to you, KNOWING! Not Hoping? Knowing that you will hear the voice of a father of three boys, a coach, a mentor of players, and most importantly a friend to student athletes.

I know your mom, dad, relatives, and friends are going through such a tough time trying to understand why? I don't think there is a person on earth that can answer those types of questions. You see Mathew! My faith in GOD is so great, that I think he talks to me sometimes, and no I am not crazy? I think! 

I can think of many, many times where my team was up by 4 points, and now the opposing team has me at my 1 yard line and pushing, 1 minute left on the clock, the opposing team has the first down and the best power rusher in the country is about to get the ball; and we'll be going home for the season. All of a sudden, a bad snap slips through the QB's hands, bounces off the running backs foot, and we recover the ball. Just Like that!

Amazing finishes, that is what GOD does, he is Mr. Clutch, Mr. I GOT YOUR BACK  24-7, 365 days a year. Never sleeping, Never resting. It is what he does, and man he does it well.

Mathew, your parents, friends and family will miss you so very much. I certainly can not even start to understand how much. Mathew! Before you leave, make that trip. Make that last walk, that last round through those lockers of great memories you have left them with. Grab them by the hand, comfort them, reach over with both hands and grab those pads, and let them know, there is so much more football to play!!!!!!!!!
